[Trailer] Machete Kills!

If you liked the over the top silliness of the first film, the sequel looks like it gets even more outlandish. I enjoyed the first one even though it had an unexpected political undercurrent which didn’t seem appropriate for an homage to Grindhouse films.

Sequel sounds a lot more straight forward and this trailer sure does give us a taste of what’s in store even if doesn’t tell us much about the plot.

[Trailer] The World’s End

The trailer for The World’s End is out and I personally can’t wait to see the end of The Three Flavors Cornetto trilogy.

I personally love the first 2 films with a giddy abandon, not to mention Spaced created by the same team. Needless to say I’ve been looking forward to this trailer and while it doesn’t give away much it does give you a glimpse at what we’ll be in store for, synopsis below;

Five lifelong friends reunite to complete a historic pub crawl from their youth, and find that reaching the fabled World's End tavern will be no simple undertaking while they also fight for the future of all mankind. Twenty years ago, Gary King (Simon Pegg) and his pals embarked on the ultimate drinking marathon. But the beer got the best of them, and they failed to drink their final pint at The World's End pub. Now, as die-hard rebel Gary approaches middle age, he summons his old friends back to their hometown for another round. With each pint down, Gary and the gang take another step toward reconciling the past. Meanwhile, just when it starts to look like their goal is in sight, the stammering pals realizes that a much larger struggle is currently taking place, and that the future is looking particularly grim -- not only for them, but for the entire human race as well. Nick Frost, Paddy Considine, Martin Freeman, Eddie Marsan, and Rosamund Pike co-star in the final chapter of Edgar Wright's "Three Flavors Cornetto Trilogy," which began with 2004's Shaun of the Dead and continued in 2007's Hot Fuzz. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

[Trailer] Thor 2: The Dark World

[Trailer] Thor 2: The Dark World

Iron Man 3 is getting ready to screen in a little under a week and a half and with it Marvel’s Phase 2 of their cinematic universe. The trailer for the 2nd Thor film has been released and it looks like it’ll take the action off world instead of keeping it focused on Earth which I consider a good thing.

Things look grittier and less glossy this time around which could be a good thing. The original Thor was a big question mark for me originally, mainly because I thought it looked silly, but it made me a fan. Here’s to hoping the 2nd film continues to deliver the goods….

[Trailer] Man of Steel

The first few trailers for Zach Snyder reboot of Superman were pretty lackluster to say the least. While I don’t quite have the vitriol that some do with Snyder, I was letdown with first glimpse but this trailer is rather rousing and exciting, give it a look below….

[Trailer] The Wolverine

It won’t take much to wash off the horrible taste from X-men Origins: Wolverine. It was probably one of the worse comic movies I’ve sat through. So while another go around with this character seems unnecessary at the very least they can’t do any worse than before, this trailer gives a glimmer of hope especially with quick shots of Silver Samurai among others. Still, after the last debacle I’m still very wary…

[Trailer 2] World War Z

I keep trying to convince myself that this movie won’t be a bloody disaster but the trailers keep telling me otherwise. First trailer ended with the superfast anthill zombie gang and this one ends with zombies on a plane……

[Trailer] Iron Man 3

The newest trailer for Iron Man 3 is out and it looks pretty impressive. The Avengers kind of made you forget about the overstuffed 2nd film.

This new trailer looks like it really ups the ante and gives us hope we’ll have a better entry this go around. Lots of wonderful tidbits offered throughout, check out the trailer and enjoy.

Introducing The Random White Woman Movie reviewer Cindy Prascik.…

In a decision to expand my blog and reviews, both in style and perspective, I’ve added a good friend to mine who’s been reviewing films for just as long as I have.
Cindy Prascik has graciously accepted my offer to join my little movie blog. Together, I hope we can expand the scope of my blog and get Cindy some exposure outside of Facebook.

First and foremost, I want to say thank you again for joining me. I know it’s going to be great.
I wanted to run through a few questions to introduce you and your style to the readers.

Q: How long have you been writing movie reviews and what got you started?

A: I started on my old MySpace page…I’d guess mid-2000s? Time does funny things when you get to my age. Jumped over to Facebook when it became clear MySpace was as dead as most of the characters Gary Oldman plays!

I’ve always enjoyed your style because it’s very conversational and your passions really come through.

Q: Care to tell us about some of your favorite genres, films or actors?

A: Favorite genre is an easy one: If every movie could be The Expendables, I’d be a happy camper!

Favorite movies are too numerous to count, but if there’s a Lord of the Rings movie on somewhere, chances are a Prascik is watching it!

Other perennial list toppers include Nolan’s Batman trilogy, all the Harry Potters and Pirates of the Caribbeans, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, How to Train Your Dragon, The Crow, Tombstone, Slap Shot, Real Genius, Clue, The Three Musketeers (1993), Big Trouble in Little China, The Full Monty, Hot Fuzz, Streets of Fire, District 9, Watchmen, The Warriors, Tropic Thunder, and The Blues Brothers.

My Acting Holy Trinity has been firmly set for more than two decades: Gary Oldman, Johnny Depp, and Russell Crowe. Rarely does another actor have a real chance of cracking the Trinity, but Sharlto Copely and Ben Foster are close.

Wish Copely didn’t have so many irons in the fire, so he had more time for acting. Oh, and I will always...always...see a Jason Statham movie the minute it hits the cinema!

Q: We generally like a lot of the same films but there are a few that we couldn’t be more opposed to, like The Master and Prometheus in recent memory. Is there a certain style of film that really bugs you or that you really like?

A: I have sooooooooooo little patience for rom-coms, and see those only under duress (read: if a favorite actor is in one).

Mostly, I just try to be an educated consumer, so I’m never really disappointed by a movie unless it’s been misrepresented in its advertising; otherwise, even the bad ones are a good time…if only because I enjoy making fun of them!

Q: Last one, I rate my movies on the A-F scale because I’m lazy and couldn’t come up with anything funnier. Tell us about where the Wesley scale came from.

A: I’m a proud Potter-head! Grading on the Weasley scale seemed like a great idea at the time…though I’ve stuck myself with having to mention in every single review that there are only nine Weasleys, lest anyone miss when I’m giving a film full marks!

Well there’s a brief intro to my new partner on this site, I hope everyone reads and enjoys her reviews as much as I do!

[Trailer] PACIFIC RIM

The official trailer for Guillermo Del Toro’s Pacific Rim has been released and it’s full of geektastic scenes.

It is a bit strange hearing Charlie Hunnam narrate the trailer, if you’re a fan of Sons of Anarchy you’ll know what I mean, but the visual look strong even if the CGI is just a tad suspect.

Having Idris Elba close out the trailer with a great rallying speech was a wonderful choice.

I’m a big Del Toro fan to begin with and this looks like he’s just going to be having a great time delivering a monster movie he wants to make….

Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro teams up with Legendary Pictures to bring audiences a unique take on the monster film with this sci-fi production. Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy) stars as a washed out pilot of a series of robots called Jaegers, which are put into production when Earth invaded by a species of giant monsters, the Kaijus. The Brothers Bloom's Rinko Kikuchi co-stars as a trainee whom Hunnam is psychically paired with in order to pilot the last beacon of hope - a decommisioned Jaeger aimed to stop the Kaijus once and for all. Thor's Idris Elba leads the rest of the starring cast, which includes Charlie Day. Rob Kazinsky and Ron Perlman. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, Rovi

Release Date: Jul 12, 2013

Genres: Sci-Fi/Fantasy

Director: Guillermo del Toro

Cast: Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Rinko Kikuchi, Ron Perlman

[Trailer] Star Trek Into Darkness

We get our first glimpse of the upcoming reboot sequel via this "announcement" trailer, as a life long Trek fan I’m still not sure what to make of it. I enjoyed the reboot but it lacked a true Trek feel, we’ll see if this one can capture that as of right now it looks like a big action tent pole film….

The Star Trek franchise continues with this follow-up to 2009's J.J. Abrams-directed reboot. Abrams returns to direct from a script by Damon Lindelof and the writing team of Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. The crew of the Enterprise engages in an epic battle of good versus evil after being summoned home to discover Starfleet in ruins, and venturing into a war zone to find the powerful villain (Sherlock's Benedict Cumberbatch) responsible for the devastation. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, Rovi

Japanese trailer below has a bit of extra footage which hints that they might be doing a version of a classic Trek film…

[Trailer] World War Z

As the poster tells you this is the cinematic version World War Z starring Brad Pitt. First off, this would have been better off have been named something else since the novel it’s borrowing its name from is a collections of individual accounts about the cataclysmic event.

This, along with some shoddy looking CGI, looks like a run of the mill Hollywood production with Pitt out to save the world against super fast extra climby zombie ant people.

[Trailer] Hitchcock

The first trailer of Sacha Gervasi's "Hitchcock" has gone online and it looks like it’ll be a fun film for fans of Hitchcock and film in general. The tone of the film looks much lighter than HBO’s upcoming Hitchcock based film The Girl.

Anthony Hopkins appears to be incredibly focused even if the make up might be a bit jarring. His onscreen pairing with Helen Mirren looks to be the highlight of the film rounded out with a strong supporting cast.

Personally, I can’t wait to see this….

[Trailer] Paranormal Activity 4

It should come as no shock that we are going to be four films into this franchise; the series is incredibly cheap to make bringing in a healthy profit as a result.

The 3rd installment expanded the mythology of the story by going back to the past and now this one comes back to the present.

From the trailer it looks like we’ll follow a new family with a teenage girl who’ll play the entry point for the audience. This might sound funny but this trailer feels terribly cheap without the authentic feel of the previous films. We’ll see what happens when it hits theaters….

[Trailer] V/H/S

Late to the party as usual, I just found out about this film and have to say it looks devilishly good. I’ve been a fan of found footage films since Blair Witch, even if they’ve become kind of passé now. I’ve also been a fan of compilation horror films, which seem to have fallen off the face of the cinematic Earth (save for the wonderful Trick R Treat from a few years back.)

This trailer has me excited to see more…..

[Trailer] Django Unchained

Oh such a delicious first look at Quentin Tarantino’s latest film. This blacksploitation / western entry looks like it’ll deliver the usual QT trademarks along with Leonardo DiCaprio just having an absolute ball…..

[Trailer] The Bourne Legacy

New full trailer for The Bourne Legacy is out and it looks like the plot will be expanding on the Bourne universe exploring more areas of the entire Treadstone project and fall out.

Looks like it can be surprisingly good even though it was a strange way to keep an actor centric franchise alive, a solid cast always helps…..

[Trailer] The Campaign

The perfect film for the upcoming elections; could be a classic or a massive miss (Jay Roach is directing) either way I’ll be there opening weekend!

[Final Trailer] THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

An early gift has presented itself, maybe because Nolan doesn’t want fanboys to forget his little film with all The Avengers hype leading up to this Friday.

This final trailer is incredible, probably up there with the Prometheus trailer. It’s quiet, dark and full of foreboding mixed with plenty of new images to just make a fan like me go batty…..

[Full Trailer] Prometheus

The full trailer for Prometheus has been released and it’s quite simply amazing.

Additionally we got the Prometheus International Trailer from the UK, a different approach but both equally effective.

and a bit more of the viral marketing being used to sell one of the characters in the film...

[Trailer] Piranha 3DD

I have no shame in saying that I enjoyed the first Piranha 3D, gleefully gory and over the top, it was a fine redux of the Roger Corman original.

Still, I always felt it should have gone further, this much anticipated sequel seems like it’s really upping the gore and tongue in cheek camp, small concern over the director, should be a lot of fun for genre fans…..
