Review:
Will Ferrell has been in his fair share of movies of late. Some classics, like Anchorman, others not so much, Bewitched.Kicking and Screaming. Teaming with producer Judd Apatow, The 40-Year Old Virgin, and Anchorman director Adam McKay was a master stroke. Ferrell is in top form here, not quite up to the level of Ron Burgundy but he still delivers an excellent performance as Ricky Bobby. Nobody quite plays the loveable moron like Will Ferrell and here he sinks his teeth into this part. Talladega Nights is very much like Ricky Bobby himself, there isnt anything deep or meaningful to the whole thing but its just a joy to watch, so much so that even the parts that are played into the ground in previews are still funny on the big screen. The rest of the cast fills in nicely with special nods going to Gary Cole, Lumbergh from Office Space, and Sacha Baron Cohen, Ali G & Borat, who are real scene stealers. This briskly paced movie is an excellent way to laugh 105 minutes away and it probably one of the few ways many of us will ever watch something NASCAR related, even if its a satire.
