[Trailer] World War Z

As the poster tells you this is the cinematic version World War Z starring Brad Pitt. First off, this would have been better off have been named something else since the novel it’s borrowing its name from is a collections of individual accounts about the cataclysmic event.

This, along with some shoddy looking CGI, looks like a run of the mill Hollywood production with Pitt out to save the world against super fast extra climby zombie ant people.

  1. Anything with zombies I am down for so I'm really looking forward to this. I did read the book and it's so massive in scope, you would be hard pressed to do it justice in a single film. As for the shoddy CGI, I think they're trying to give it an on the ground, war film feel rather than a pretty picture. Who knows?

    1. Heavy CGI and zombie just don't fit for me, I'll still watch but some mentioned that an adaptation of the book would have worked better as an HBO mini series.

    2. Never thought about that as I don't have any of the movie channels. :) But that could have worked. I mean look at the popularity of my fave show, The Walking Dead.

    3. The Walking Dead is a great example of what they could have done with it, oh well, maybe I'll be surprised...

  2. Awful. Awful. Awful.

There isn't anything I like about the trailer.

The CGI sucks, Brad Pitt's delivery is already grating on me. The whole concept isn't going to work in a 90min movie.

Too much CGI - the zombies look like something out of a crap computer game. Given the size of the budget it is even more shocking.

A mini series would be fine. The confidence to make a slow burning trilogy would have been brilliant as they could develop all the world wide accounts.

I will be seeing it though. I love the book too much not to but therein lies my problem.

    K :-(

    1. Very unimpressed, of course I'll see it as well but I keep saying they should have just called it something else.

  3. I'm not a big movie going person, although when friends talk me into going, I usually enjoy myself. From that perspective, I don't have any thoughts on this particular film. What I can say is that after paging through your archives, I am impressed with your succinct reporting style and the format of your blog. This is professional and polished; I hope some major news and entertainment auspice finds you and employs you as a film critic!

  4. Horrible beyond belief. Looks like Emmerich made a cheap re-interpretation of Snyder's DOTD-remake. NOT NOT NOT excited for this AT ALL!!!

    1. I might have been more forgiving if it were a sequel to Snyder's DOTD remake.

    2. Yeah... well... I'm not a fan of Snyder's DOTD, but at least, it didn't look as cheap as this piece of crap trailer :)
